The Mawnan Console Cabinet is designed to bring storage, display and material richness into a single, carefully balanced form. Combining the utility of a cabinet with the lightness of a console table, it offers generous storage without dominating the room.
Open spindle shelves frame the central drawers, creating a structure that feels open rather than enclosed. Light passes freely through the piece, softening its presence and allowing displayed objects to remain the focus. Books, ceramics and collected possessions are given space to breathe, while the cabinet provides an architectural framework that helps organise and anchor a room.
At its centre, two drawers feature a hand-carved rippled texture that flows across the oak surface, catching light and shadow throughout the day. Walnut handles and exposed walnut pins introduce moments of contrast, drawing attention to details that reveal the care invested in the making of the piece.
Constructed from solid oak using sliding dovetails, mortise and tenon joints, and other mechanically interlocking forms of joinery, the cabinet is built with longevity in mind. Finished with natural oils and waxes, the timber develops character through use, bringing warmth, texture and depth to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
