Mawnan Bench

Crafted from solid oak, this bench is designed with longevity, character, and simplicity in mind. Oak has been chosen not just for its strength and durability, but for its rich grain patterns and warm tonal variation, qualities that bring natural depth and texture to a space. Over time, the wood develops a soft patina, making each piece more distinctive with age and use.

The top is subtly textured by hand and finished with gently carved edges that lend a sense of quiet detail without interrupting the clean lines. This considered surface treatment offers a tactile quality that invites use, while remaining easy to care for.

Tapered spindle legs are joined using traditional wedged mortice and tenon joints, a precise and durable construction technique that ensures the bench remains structurally sound for decades. The under-frame features a minimal configuration of spindle stretchers, positioned to provide stability without visual weight.

This piece works well in calm, pared-back interiors, from contemporary rustic and Scandinavian-inspired spaces to more eclectic or wabi-sabi environments where material honesty and craftsmanship are key.
